Make the code running vagueware.com available

As part of the ideas of making vagueware better, some consideration has been given to making the code under vagueware.com open source, thereby enabling idea banks and open innovation in a more widestream circle.

The code can be used for other purposes as well – it’s effectively a wiki with digg-style voting – but my main development effort is going to be around making open innovation and collaboration more accessible to a wider group of people.

The code can be made available within a few days, however the effort in tidying things up for release and putting it in place is going to take away from other activities, so I’ll only do this if there’s demand from at least a couple of people.

An alternative is to offer the system as a hosted service for companies who want to tailor it for their own companies or industries.

Would help me out posted by Ian Wild 10 months ago

Currently, I’m using pligg to manage an internal suggestions box / ideas tool. I want more people to be able to collaborate and less of the newsey functions. If I could have a play with this code it would be really nice.

I think you should make it Open Source. Your site is curious as after reading the small print bottom right I am uncertain if the ideas are Public domain / Open /IPR free.

Nice idea for a website but you need to make it clear that the ideas Public Domain..

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/agpl-3.0.html would seem like the license for the job.

Yeah. that seems like a sensible choice. it’s not like you won’t benefit if someone invents a “killer new feature”.

I really think this would be a good idea and help the ethos of the site.
