Building a web based electronic document exchange

Most businesses still present their invoices in paper format, and even where electronic generation of invoices is provided, they are presented in a format that can’t be automatically imported into accounts systems (e.g. PDF format).

ebdex is a design for a system intended to assist e-Invoicing, Electronic Invoice Presentment and Payment (EIPP) and Supply Chain Financing (SCF) solutions.

The software would have three primary functions:

  • Sending an electronic invoice directly from an Accounts Receivable system
  • Presenting the invoice automatically in the Accounts Payable system
  • An integrated system for handling the payment of the invoice and updates of both A/R and A/P systems

One route would be integration with existing accounts packages with a standard document format for interchange
