How can the viable system model be applied to new media systems design?

Some measurement of the ‘variety [1]’ of different media (e-mail, wikis, mailing lists) is required.

Then variety has to be ‘balanced’ using appropriate technologies.

This is so that people are not overwhelmed by inappropriate information and the organisation can gain a competitive advantage though more efficient collaboration.
